About the event
Join Preservation NJ via Zoom on June 20th at 7PM as we sit down with Jersey Coast Heritage Museum members Dina Long, Frank Smith and Susan Gardiner on the Sandllass House. The Sandlass House is the last remnant of the Highland Beach Resort at Sandy Hook, N.J. During an era where beach resorts were unknown north of Long Branch at the northernmost point of the Jersey Shore covering a distance of 9.7 miles, William Sandlass helped forge Highland Beach into a major tourist destination. In 1888, William Sandlass’ Highland Beach became the first bathing business to be built and marketed on the peninsula at Sandy Hook, New Jersey
This event is an installment of our series, "Talks with Our Ten Most," where we share updates -- and lessons learned -- from past PNJ Ten Most Endangered Sites. The Sandllass House was listed in 2022.
This program is free and open to all.
