We have an amazing lineup of free outdoor family movies all summer long, every Wednesday evening! The schedule begins on Wednesday June 21 with “Back to the Future Part II” starring Michael J. Fox.
DowntownFreehold.com is enthused to partner with Preservation NJ for this year’s Annual Meeting, followed by a FREE walking tour and reception on Saturday July 15th.
Originally built in 1814, the American Hotel is the jewel of Main Street. It was fully restored in 2010 and demonstrates how preservation and modern requirements can be melded to maintain a sense of uniqueness and place. If this will be your first time in Downtown Freehold or Freehold Borough, we welcome you!
After Preservation NJ’s 2023 Annual Meeting we invite you to join us on a tour of downtown Freehold with discussions of district management and examples of streetscape beautification programs. Among other Monmouth County and Freehold Borough officials, the borough historian will give participants an overview of the history of Freehold.
Mayor Kevin A. Kane will discuss upcoming redevelopment projects around the historic train station and firehouse as well as the reuse of buildings within the downtown historic district.
As part of the tour, we will visit the Freehold First Baptist Church for a unique opportunity to hear from Brianne Van Vorst of Liberty Stained Glass Consulting and Project Management who is managing the restoration of the Church’s prized windows.
We will also visit the Monmouth County Historical Association Museum – as part of its 125th anniversary, an exhibit featuring the “Best of the Best” of their collections including Emanuel Leutze’s “Washington Rallying the Troops at Monmouth (1857)” is now on display.
From there we take a short stroll back to the center of Downtown and cap off the tour with a PNJ networking reception at Artis Brewery on South Street with drinks and apps.
“As always, we encourage you to shop, dine, discover, and explore all that Downtown Freehold and Freehold Borough have to offer. Please visit our website DowntownFreehold.com for a full event schedule. There’s Always Something Going On!”
